Paddleboarding appeals to women for a variety of reasons. It’s exposure to nature, the chance for few minutes of serenity, a way to hang with friends and its rockin’ full-body fitness benefits.
The benefits of SUP are holistic – mind and body. In addition to clearing our mind cruising the water away from cell phones, kids and laptops, women burn serious calories (some say up to 550 calories an hour!) while building strength and balance.
 
First, simply standing on a paddle board tests our balance and stability. Then add 30-60 minutes of actual paddling for cardio and strengthening benefits. Keep in mind, the more quickly we paddle, we increase our heart rate for cardio benefits while toning arms and core. It’s simple, the more quickly we paddle the more calories we burn. (And if you paddle up-river, you’ll earn an extra brownie or glass of wine).
